It seems that I read A LOT in July, so I have broken my normal monthly post into two parts. Part one is all Ruby Dixon, I have listed the books in my recommended reading order for the Risdaverse/Corsair books. Also due to the number of books I read this month I am posting this without my personal reviews to keep the length down. I will probably come back to this post at a later date to add my thoughts but for now here is my reading list!

Part two (this post) is a listing of all the other authors/books I read in the month of July.

You can find my full 2022 reading list on my Amazon storefront by clicking here!

ALSO IF YOU ARE A FAMILY MEMBER OR CO-WORKER, SKIP THIS POST THESE BOOKS ARE NOT FOR YOU

In fact I am just going to sneak this post onto the page without making much of a fuss over it. Just apply every trigger warning you have ever heard of to any of these books. They are dark, disturbing and I’m not sure they are something I would openly suggest….

Disclaimer: there may be a few spoilers , if you read on you have been warned.

Vengeance of The Fallen (Twisted Legends Collection, #1)

by Veronica Eden

The Fallen are ruthless, demanding, and vicious, and they want me.

I thought I could hide from my past, but they know who I am, what I am. They want vengeance. And they will take it, no matter what.

They see me as pure, innocent, and they want to tarnish that veneer. But what they don’t know is that I have darkness clawing its way out of me. For so long, I try to hide it. I’m afraid of it, but when my three captors recognize the shadows lurking in my soul, I know it’s too late.

I am their captive.

They’re merciless, ruthless, and violent.

The Fallen have stolen me, but there is a far worse evil lurking outside, watching. It’s waiting for me.

The question is — Will these three men save me, or watch my demise?

Hunkiedorië Review: not really into this

Truth or Kill (Twisted Legends Collection, #2)

by A.C. Kramer

You’re cordially invited to attend this year’s spring break retreat at The Lodge.
It’s a highly exclusive experience guaranteed to redefine your future.
Assuming you survive.

Sydney
I thought it was a joke.
Some pompous high-society game meant to play with the children of the elite.
But then people started dying.
Including the one who invited me to attend.

Now I’m the one they all suspect.
Because I have blood on my hands.
Their blood.

Kage
The pretty little pawn isn’t supposed to be here.
She’s unique. Not one of them. A potential prize I may take for myself.
But only if she learns how to properly play this game.

The terms are simple: truth or kill?
Mmm, I hope she picks kill.
Because she’ll look stunning in red.

Welcome to the darkness, my little black rose.
Blood is your new currency.
And it’s time to pay the price.

Author’s Note: Truth or Kill is a standalone novel. Please review the warning inside for dark content that may be triggering to readers.

Departed Whispers (Twisted Legends Collection, #3)

by J. Rose

Thirteen years ago, Emery Lockwood gave in to the temptation of forbidden magick, leaving the ruins of her home to go on the run from the local coven.

Forced to leave her three best friends behind, she never expected her childhood sweethearts to find her again. The boys she once knew have become troubled men, and they need her help.

Reaper’s Hollow is under attack.

Haunted by an evil force that loves to play sick mind games, a decade of death and despair have left countless innocent lives caught in the middle. Emery has no choice but to return and fight.

Reunited in a war zone, friendship and heartbreak grow into something more.

When ancient secrets are exposed, Emery must race against the clock to save a world that cast her aside. Only she can end the onslaught of evil threatening to consume them all.

For far too long, dark witches have been hunted and killed. The bloodshed must end. At the dawn of a new age, destruction is inevitable.

The world must burn before it can be reborn.

Author’s Note: Departed Whispers is a paranormal reverse harem retelling of the deadly chain mail urban legend, and book three in the Twisted Legends Collection. It is a full-length novel that can be read as a standalone.

Hunkiedorië Review: I liked this, would have liked more, it felt too short. The ending felt rushed and I had to deal with one of my least favorite plot-lines (SPOILER* super powerful main character looses their powers) That aside, this could have been a great series-there was room to build up to the end and dive into the characters more.

Hell Gate (Twisted Legends Collection, #5)

by Veronica Eden

Open the gate…if you dare.

The first thing I’m warned about when I arrive at the girls’ home is to stay away from the abandoned graveyard. Local urban legend claims it’s host to a gate to Hell.

Then I was dared

The legend is as real as the monsters I’ve summoned by activating the gate. Demons guard it, waiting for skeptical idiots like me to do the ritual. Three sinfully hot, dangerously powerful demons.

Valerian.
Matthias.
Alder.

Ruthless.
Deadly.
Terrifying.

The gate’s three wicked protectors won’t let me get away without paying their price.
I’m at their mercy, fighting to survive them and the supernatural world they drag me into.
But none of us are prepared for what is awakening within me.

A long buried secret and hidden ancient magic will change everything.
The match is lit and together we’re all going up in flames.

*Hell Gate is a standalone PNR reverse harem romance. Due to dark themes, strong language, and graphic violent/sexual situations, it is recommended for mature readers.

Hunkiedorië Review: I liked this, would have liked more, it felt too short. This could be a great series.

Blood Vows (Twisted Legends Collection, #7)

by K. Easton

Never make a deal with the devil–especially if that deal entails holy matrimony.

There’s only one rule my mother passed down to me before she died: Never venture into the east side of Edinburgh.
I never questioned it.
There are creatures in this world that could hurt us, she’d said.
So, I stay away—until my life hits rock bottom, and I find myself curious about the forbidden side of the ancient city.
It doesn’t seem all that different here–bars, clubs, restaurants. Just like the human side.
One too many drinks later, he finds me.
A silly poem and a whispered wish are all it takes for him to rip through the mirror between realms and pin me against a wall.
Cruel, inhuman, cunning. A demon—an actual prince from hell. With horns.
What could he possibly want from me?
Marriage, apparently.
Because as it turns out, Bloody Marius is dead serious about upholding his end of the deal.

Blood & Vows is a dark retelling of the legend of Bloody Mary. It is a paranormal romance novella that will leave your kindle sizzling. Please note that this book has dark themes such as forced marriage, kidnapping, dubious consent, violence, and explicit language, which may be triggering for some.

Hunkiedorië Review: I liked this, would have liked more, it felt too short. This could be a great series.

Under the Cover of Darkness (Twisted Legends Collection, #7)

by Emma Luna

ADDY
I thought the suffocating loneliness of the last two year were bad, but then I was sent to Lakeridge Psychiatric Facility.
On the outside it’s disguised as helpful brochures and friendly doctors who have vowed to help, but the real truth is just below the surface, lurking in the shadows, and haunting my dreams.
At night he comes—taunting and abusing me. Bending me to his will, and making sure no one believes me.
That is until Dylan.
I can touch him and see him, but if my mind is capable of creating such horrors like my nightmares, can I trust that he’s real?

DYLAN
I’m no stranger to breaking rules and living on the edge. I guess it kind of comes with the territory of being a rockstar. But when I’m forced to attend Lakeridge, to serve my time and get sober, I’m met with the one thing I know I can’t have.
Addy.
I know we don’t have a chance, not unless I want to get kicked out of here, and made to finish my sentence in a proper prison. Still, something about her calls to me.
There is more to the marks on her pale skin than the doctors say, and her nightmares seem to be a little too real.
Digging deeper into the madness, I’m left to question, can nightmares really leave scars? Or am I becoming mad too?

Author Note
Under The Cover Of Darkness is a dark contemporary romance retelling of the Slender Man urban legend. It’s part of the Twisted Legends Collection, which is a shared world with other authors. All the books can be read as standalones, but if you like urban legends twisted into romances, then you will want to collect them all.
Due to mature themes, this book is not intended for anyone under the age of eighteen. There are scenes in this book that may be a trigger for someone people.

My world was hell on earth, son of a man who was evil incarnate.

When I meet her eyes again, I remember what I’m fighting for.
The girl will be mine.

***

I’ve seen true evil, held captive by the devil himself.
And now revenge is all I know.
Everything was stolen from me. Until him.

Kneel (Sins of Seven #1)

by Dani René

“Greed was my vice. A sin that led to my addiction.”

I hid the monster from everyone, including myself. Emotions were firmly locked away.

As much control as I had in my life, I could never control my heart.
Eva exposed me. She begged and pleaded, and I swore I’d make her kneel.

And when she finally did, I broke the only jewel I ever owned.

Hunkiedorië Review: Dani Rene’s books are smut for smuts sake in this series. I find all the characters in this book frustrating and weak.

When Eli said goodbye to love, he never counted on Gia.
The darkened soul he’d kept hidden for far too long was tainted.
And she was too beautiful, too innocent.
But he didn’t bank on the feisty beauty to tame the beast he held inside.

Indulge (Sins of Seven #3)

by Dani René

I’m a glutton. I indulge in women because I can.

Carrick knows love is merely a shattered memory.

Until Peyton stumbles into his arms and he steals a kiss.

One taste isn’t enough.
One touch would never satiate him.
And he does what he’s become accustomed to, he indulges in her.

A man hell bent on not falling in love, he pushes.
But Peyton’s not giving up.

Can they have forever while Carrick is haunted by a ghost from his past?

Ruthless (Sins of Seven #4)

by Dani René

I’m an asshole. And I make no apologies for it.

My life has been spent drenched in the blood of my enemies. Our family legacy, left only to me when my brother walked away. Women are pawns in a game for pleasure. Nothing more.

Until her. Madison Parker.
I’m enthralled.
Captivated.

But my past is far too dark. Pushing her away is my only option.
Yet her stubborn, sassy mouth and beautiful eyes weaken me.
I save her as much as she saves me.

Then blood is spilled once more, and I’ll forever live with the guilt.

Can light find its way through my darkness?
Can she truly be the salvation for this ruthless heart?

by Dani René

My life came with a vow. A promise to the blood line I’m born from. Even though I love my family, I know I could never escape. I’m bound to duty. Until she walks into my life. Blonde. Blue-eyed. Far too beautiful. I shouldn’t bring her into this life. My secrets are far too deadly. Promises will be broken, but deception is right at my door. Now I have a choice to make. Love or blood.

Envy (Sins of Seven #6)

It’s time to right the wrongs of the past. But there are secrets woven into our lives that will soon spill over. I’d always envied my brother. We were always at war. But now it’s time to ask for his help. To put our differences aside and save the girl I love.

Vice (Sins of Seven #7)

by Dani René

My life is perfect, but my story isn’t. My tastes are frowned upon. However, I don’t allow society to dictate my proclivities. I’m cruel. I’m cold. I’m heartless. The list of submissives wanting me to train them is endless. But when two of my newest students walk in, I’m challenged in every way. *This is an MM romance with MMF and MFFM scenes.
