The other night I had a date take me to Sea Salt Eatery in Minnehaha Park. I was very excited since this place has been on my list for a while now. Whenever I search “go to places in the Twin Cities area” Sea Salt Eatery is always on the list. They are only a seasonal restaurant open April through October, so you need to make sure you catch them while they are open. They serve Wine Beer and an amazing selection of fresh seafood with a constantly changing menu and a very fun and professional staff, you are sure to love every minute of your experience. I did a little research before my date so I would have an idea of what to order. Sea Salt Eatery is known for their Po’ Boys and Tacos. Both sounded amazing but when it came down to the wire I ordered the Calamari Appetizer, my date ordered the Shrimp Po’ Boy (which looked amazing!) and two glasses of their Pinot Grigio. Behind the counter is a giant chalk board with the menu, specials and drinks. There is usually a bit of a line which is great, you will have time to read through before you have to order.
After placing our order we grabbed a table outside on their patio. They usually have some sort of live music going and that night was no exception. A man was playing the guitar and singing (absolutely killing it too). Within just a few minutes we had our food delivered and we dove in. My calamari was overflowing in the dish and I was excited after working on it for a few minutes that there was a dipping sauce buried underneath the mound of fried squid. The calamari was good before but the spicy creamy dipping sauce made it a home run. My date seemed to really enjoy his Po’Boy and gave me a taste. It was so good I know what I am getting next time I go back!
I loved my visit to Sea Salt Eatery and can’t wait to go back and try more of their wonderful menu items. It would be fun to go as a group and eat family style so we could all try more options. I do have to say though that Minnehaha Park and Sea Salt Eatery is a great place for a date. The setting is beautiful yet casual and you have a great opportunity to walk of your meal on one of their many hiking and walking paths around the falls.
