Yesterday the girls and I celebrated our friend Samantha’s 22nd Birthday by going to Lunch at Leo’s Grill & Malt Shop in downtown Stillwater, MN. I had known about Leo’s for a long time having grown up not far from downtown Stillwater, but had never tried it before. Being the cheeseburger lover that I am Leo’s absolutely stole my heart. It’s retro atmosphere young and friendly staff and classic diner food was everything I hoped it to be. Unfortunately one of the girls at lunch suffers from Celiac Disease and is Lactose intolerant as well. Leo’s does offer gluten free bread but all menu items use the same deep fryer, oil and grill (which is absolutely understandable given their simple and retro nature-which I love). As a result what was at one point gluten free bread doesn’t stay that way long due to contamination by other food in the kitchen. The menu was reasonably priced and had a surprising large selection for such a small venue. I had my all time faves: Chocolate Malt, Bacon Cheeseburger and Waffle Fries, all of which were amazing. I am so glad we were able to spend our afternoon there and cannot wait to return.
